Zim's Gizmos is a non-profit organization committed to providing supreme gameplay.

Why We Bother

We are a non-profit organization seeking to revolutionize the gaming community. All of us here at Zim's Gizmos have become rather disgusted with the lack of quality gameplay on the market now. Things are simply too easy and boring, but that is what we seek to change. We miss the days when one could spend hours on a single game without ever experiencing a moment of boredom. A time when the only thing games had to go on were gameplay and the general public would not spend their money simply because the game is "pretty". This is our goal as an organization and this is our promise.

Zim's Gizmos, as a non-profit organization, will bring great games to the market. Games that will challenge one's mind and skill. This wiki is here to some of our more "final" ideas. No ideas found here are by any means final though, everything is open for change to a more sensible change. Simply post any suggested changes on the forums!

We want you to get out your opinions out on what YOU think the gaming community needs. We want input and you have it, so please do not hesitate to share your input on the forums!

What Goes?

So long as it is appropriate, we will typically accept it. Just follow the simple golden rule: "If you wouldn't show it to your grandma, don't show it here!"

The Zim's Gizmos Seal of Approval

While not much yet, the Zim's Gizmos Seal of Approval is a sort of stamp we have placed on a game that has surpassed our high content expectations. This Seal has three categories of awards,;the first is the Bronze Seal, which is awarded to games scoring 80% or higher; the second is the Silver Seal, awarded to games scoring 87% or higher; the third is the Gold Seal, awarded only to the best of the best at 95% or higher. We prize content and gameplay over graphics and thus this Seal will never be awarded to any game that has only flashy graphics as the reason people buy it. The Seal of Approval shows our opinion that this game is fantastic and you will not be dissatisfied with your investment to hours upon hours of fun.

50% Gameplay On a 1-10 Scale Gameplay is by far the most important feature in a game to Zim's Gizmos.
--20% -- Addictiveness On a 1-10 Scale Addictiveness measures basically how long a person could sit and play without becoming bored. We consider three hours of straight play to be average.
--30% -- Length On a 1-10 Scale Length measures the overall "life" of the game. How long the campaign or an average game lasts. This is based on the game itself.
--10% -- Replay Factor On a 1-10 Scale The Replay Factor basically measures how much the game can be replayed and still be interesting. Three times is above average.
--20% -- Features On a 1-10 Scale Features include anything that adds to the game or makes it unique.
--10% -- Game Engine On a 1-10 Scale The way the game works, such as a foot sticking through a wall due to a graphic glitch and you being able to die from that, it is bad.
--10% -- Controls On a 1-10 Scale The basic controls of the game, how easy is it to figure them out, or how hard? Did the controls work?
30% Graphics On a 1-10 Scale Graphics are necessary. Sadly there are too many games that have taught us to expect great graphics, thus we do include this category.
--30% -- Effects On a 1-10 Scale Effects are any extra Graphical occurrence that adds to the game.
--30% -- Textures On a 1-10 Scale Textures are the overall look of the game, how the characters and objects look.
--25% -- Models On a 1-10 Scale This only applies if the game uses 3D models. These are the overall form and animation of the models the game uses.
--25% -- Images On a 1-10 Scale This only applies if the game uses 2D images. This refers to the appearance and animation of the images the game uses.
--15% -- Animation On a 1-10 Scale This differs from Models or Images in that some times the images or models look great, and have poor or jerky animations.
20% Audio On a 1-10 Scale Sounds are an integral part of any game, from music to sound effects to narrations, they play a very important role in the enjoyment of a game, including the memories.
--40% -- Sound Effects On a 1-10 Scale Sound effects include anything that results from what you are doing at the time.
--40% -- Music On a 1-10 Scale Music is, as it implies, background songs in the game.
--10% -- Ambience On a 1-10 Scale Ambience refers to sound effects that you do not directly cause, such as birds tweeting, the wind blowing, fire crackling, things like that.
--10% -- Narration On a 1-10 Scale (If Applicable) Narration is the voice used to narrate some games, some games do not have any Narration, in such a case, simply ignore this category and add the 10% to Ambience for calculating the score.
